Craft Day!!

Today i didn't have to work, so i decided to a have a quick little craft day! it was quite successful. I have been wanting to make a recipe book for quite a while(like 2 years) and i started one a while ago, but i didn't like it much. So i decided to start another one and well, this one turned out pretty cute. I even made the outside cover by myself!! I especially like the soup page! Now i have a perfect place to put all these wonderful recipes that everyone has shared!

This is the other crafty item i completed today, okay i didn't make it, but i did paint it... it turned out well, but it doesn't hold too many of my spice bottles. So we will see how long it stays on the counter. It might have to go back to the Goodwill, which is where i got it in the first place...

This is what my poor husband did today... Make a mess of our kitchen table??? No, well, kind of!! The poor kid has been studying since 5 this morning!! Thank you for working so hard honey, you are going to do great on your finals!! This is the only week that i let Rhett get away with the kitchen table looking like this, Rhett is famous for leaving piles of papers everywhere, his mom and i give him a hard time about. We always tease him, "Rhett what are you going to do when you are a doctor and you have to keep all your patient info. and papers organized?" Rhett responds with, " My nurses will clean it up and organize it for me!!'

This is our Life...

Today is the last day of classes for this quarter... I think my husband is seriously ready for a break, i think each quarter is somewhere around 10-12 weeks, and well, this is Rhett's stack of materials for this quarter, yes this quarter... actually i think there is more in his backpack... but for all of our family and friends that are not here with us, this gives you an idea. Most of his classes give him a packet to study every week, and every week the packet is seriously, i don't know like 20 pages back to front, and he has liek 5 or 6 classes plus labs. It is crazy, how much they arre expected to learn. He is so dedicated to school and i am so proud of him, i am excited for him to have a short break and maybe take in some golfing!!

I also found this one someone's blog... I think things liek this are so funny!! Should i be more worried that Rhett looks like Katie Couric... or Michael Jordan... What does that mean for our future children!!!??

When i was in 6th grade, there was another 6th grade girl with the name Sara Hansen... it was so confusing!!! Cafe Rio!!

Okay, as some of you have asked(and others requested)...

My friends and I here in arizona, most of them are either from Utah, or have lived in Utah for some time period. This means that we all love Cafe Rio!! Well, in good ole' Glendale the closest Cafe Rio is in Chandler, which is like 45 minutes away. So most of us couples hit up Cafe Rio when we go to the temple (which is about a 4-5 hour round trip), so anyway every couple weeks we all get together and have Cafe Rio. Everybody brings something, and well it is delicious! So as requested here are the recipes: But just so you know- our friend Issac shared the pork recipe with me, and our friends Carlie and Ryan shared the dressing with me... So hopefully they don't care if i post this!

Cafe Rio Dressing

3 tomatillos

1/2 cup buttermilk

2 cloves garlic

1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

1/2 bunch of cilantro

1 pkg. buttermilk ranch dressing mix

1/2 cup sour cream

2 tsp. sugar

1/2-3/4 tsp. salt

juice from half a lime

5 stalks green onions(with stems)

Mix all ingredients in blender. Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

Cafe Rio Pork

1 boneless pork shoulder roast

1 can coca-cola

1 can green enchilada sauce

1/2-1 cup brown sugar

Place pork in crock pot and add coca cola(add as much as you think, i usually use like 3/4 quarters of the can). Cook for 4-5 hours, or until it shreds easily. Drain fat and coke from crock pot, shred pork, then place back in the crockpot and add can of enchilada sauce and brown sugar. Cook about one more hour.

So funny!!!

Okay, so i showed this american idol clip to Rhett last nite and we were both laughing so hard!! I laughed really hard the 1st time i saw it too!! So, for any of you that missed american idol(which would be my mommy hansen and my mother frei- you will both enjoy this!!!)...You will love this clip... i can watch it over and over and over and over and well, you get the point!!

Oh bytheway, my favorite part is Paula towards the end of the clip, she does a hip bump with the singer, and he just keeps singing!!!

Go Giants!!!

So, as some of you know, we live pretty dang close to where the historic Superbowl 2008 took place. So we couldn't miss a chance on taking some pictures!! We went down by the stadium and there were some bands playing, and people handing out free stuff, it was fun just to go check it out and say that we were there!! These two pictures are the closest that we could get to the stadium and some sort of sign that said superbowl...

This first one I made my friend Carlie take 3 times, sorry Car, the electric sign in the back kept flashing different words, but i really wanted the words Welcome to SBXLII in the background of my picture! Lame, I know!!!
Oh and by the way, Rhett was very excited that the Giants won!! We had some friends over and the boys were jumping up and down so much that some items fell off my shelves!!
It was pretty funny!!!

Good ol' Albertson's...

So I almost ALWAYS go to Albertson's to do my weekly grocery shopping. There is a Fry's across the street(which i should go there, just to support the name!), and there is a walmart a few blocks away, which is cheaper, but why drive that far?? Well, anyway i just got home from albertsons and they are always really friendly there- the staff is trained so well and they just meet all your shopping needs... and well that is why i keep going there...

Anyway, i went today and i try to look pretty inconspicous as i shop- get in and get out is my motto when it comes to grocery shopping- but today the produce guy who always politely says hi to me whenever i am there(i always thought he was just being polite)... started up a conversation... He was like "Hey how are you, havent seen you for a while(see- last week i went Wal-mart!)did you watch the superbowl, who did you want to win...yadda...yadda...yadda..." we had a nice conversation, and i was surprised he knew me!!

So i continued on and another man, i think he is like the assistant manager because i see him all over the store- He always asks me if i need help- He stopped this time and said "How are you? Shopping early today?(that is because I go at night a lot)..." Shoot, i was recognized again!

So then, i go to check out and the lady at the register is like "oh i see your not paying with $1's today!" this is because i always pay with my tips from the salon(poor lady, probably hates me).

So turns out i have only been going there for about 6 months and looks like i have some friends- does that mean i go to the grocery store to much?? At least I got a good laugh as i left the store! I went to the Albertson's in small town Cedar City for a year and a half and no one knew me there except for a boy named robert, and that is only because he is related!!!

Well, it looks like if i ever get lonely in arizona i can just go hang out at Albertson's!!
